New High-Ranking Nominees Proposed to the Senate

Ambassador and two Associate Judges seek approval once quorum is present.

Officers of the United States are approved “by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate,” and the Senate will vet nearly 70,000 nominations within each two-year Congress. However, of all of those nominations, only a few hundred are of a high rank, and those nominations are given much closer consideration during the nomination process.

Three people have been presented to the Senate for positions of high rank this past Thursday. Keith W. Dayton was nominated to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine, the highest rank possible for a foreign diplomat. Danny Lam Nguyen and John C. Truong have both been nominated to be separate Associate Judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, commonly referred to as D.C. Superior Court.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Senate as they weigh the capability and integrity of each of these nominees.
  • That God would guide their minds and hearts as they deliberate over who would be best to lead our country.
  • For all three nominees; may they approach this time of waiting with the reverence befitting the roles they aim for.
